Our essentials and timeless product are all made with edge-grain wood.
For the cutting board, you have the choice. We have edge-grain and end-grain cutting boards.
Hesitating between an edge-grain and an end-grain cutting board?
The edge-grain wood let us see more movement and more colour variation of the wood, depending on the wood species. The end-grain is more firm and long-lived. In fact, hardness of end-grain surface is almost one and half times higher than hardness of side or edge-grain surface. When you use an end-grain cutting board, knives stay sharp longer. When the knife is pressed against the end-grain, it penetrates between the fibers of the wood instead of across the fibers as with an edge-grain board. Instead of cutting fibers and dulling the knife, the fibers will close back together and the knife will keep its edge.
