This Giroux cutting board in solid cherry will be talked about by more than one! The end grain exhibits a checkerboard effect reminiscent of traditional butcher blocks. The different textures of the wood are highlighted and reveal the multiple reddish hues of the cherry tree. In addition, this grain arrangement makes the work surface extremely smooth and durable. When cutting food, the end grains will absorb the impact of the blade, making the board resistant to knife marks and cuts. Not only will your board keep the same look for many years to come, your knives will stay sharp for longer.

Our essentials and timeless product are all made with edge-grain wood.

For the cutting board, you have the choice. We have edge-grain and end-grain cutting boards.

Hesitating between an edge-grain and an end-grain cutting board?

The edge-grain wood let us see more movement and more colour variation of the wood, depending on the wood species. The end-grain is more firm and long-lived. In fact, hardness of end-grain surface is almost one and half times higher than hardness of side or edge-grain surface. When you use an end-grain cutting board, knives stay sharp longer. When the knife is pressed against the end-grain, it penetrates between the fibers of the wood instead of across the fibers as with an edge-grain board. Instead of cutting fibers and dulling the knife, the fibers will close back together and the knife will keep its edge.
